The Brick Foundation Our Charity - The Brick Foundation
The Jersey Construction Council launched its charitable fund, The Brick Foundation, at the 2006 Jersey Construction Awards. It proved an immediate success with over £2,000 raised on its first night in operation. The purpose of the charity is to raise money to fund projects related to the construction industry taking place in the local community. We are pleased to confirm that the ‘Brick’ collection boxes at this year’s Jersey Construction Awards raised a further £1,211.00, which is available to put to good use on another charitable project in the future. ...working with Durrell Following the 2007 Jersey Construction Council theme of ‘Natural Construction’, the Brick Foundation worked in association with Durrell to provide a new chiller unit to one of their breeding houses. Durrell keep two rare breeds of tortoises; the Marginated from Southern Europe and the highly endangered Radiated tortoise from Madagascar. In the summer, the inside temperature of the breeding house can rise to dangerous level preventing successful mating. The money raised in 2006 funded the installation of a new chiller unit which provides crucial temperature regulation for these two rare breeds of tortoise ensuring a successful breeding programme. The Brick Foundation hopes to become an important contributor and fund raiser for further community projects and key local initiatives that relate to the industry. Contributions are always welcome and collections are made at all JECC events. Further fund raising event ideas would be welcomed by the Board and, should you wish to make a suggestion, again, please forward these on to a Board member. |
