Best Use of Innovation - Jersey Gas for Subcoil Gas

Jersey Gas

Subcoil Gas is an innovative product developed jointly by Jersey Gas and Subterra (a subsidiary of Enterprise Managed Systems PLC) as a low cost renovation system for medium pressure metallic gas mains in Jersey.

The system comprises a medium density polyethylene (PE80) liner pipe which is factory folded into a heart shape profile which is held in shape by a thin outer sleeve of the same material, and coiled into drums in continuous lengths of up to 1000 metres.

The folded profile creates a significant clearance between the liner and the host pipe in need of renovation, which allows rapid installation over substantial distances and easy negotiation of bends.

Once in place the Subcoil gas liner is pressurised and reverts to its original size and shape, forming a close-fitting continuous structural liner, which is effectively a new, fully structured gas main.

Environment Award - Naish Waddington for Ivystill

Naish Waddington

New Private House: Ivystill, Ivystill Lane, St. Saviour

In 1996 Naish Waddington were commissioned to design a new private 4 bedroom house to replace an existing cottage riddled with damp problems and poor accommodation. The emphasis was to be a very contemporary design with lots of daylight, but using natural materials and soft, organic shapes. In particular, our clients were interested in an eco-friendly approach with very high levels of insulation and minimal running costs. The project was successfully completed in 2007.

Rachel Perchard

Rachel is a mature individual who takes her responsibilities very seriously. She can be relied upon to always be on time, to work late when necessary and since starting work at Dandara, she has never taken time off due to illness.

Since joining Dandara in a part-time role in November 2004 both her confidence and experience has grown exponentially and her goal is to always do her job to the best of her ability, whilst also supporting her colleagues. Health & Safety - Dandara

Dandara

By employing a full time in house health and safety team the management of health and safety within Dandara is considered a fundamental part of the overall management system within the company.

Standards on our sites are high and are not given opportunity to be anything else. A visit by an Inspector of the States of Jersey Health and Safety Executive in December 2007 acknowledged the constant efforts being made.

All of our health & safety activity, be it internal or external has the one aim of continually raising awareness of the standards expected throughout the company’s sites. Having not suffered any major incidents or received any enforcement notices from the HSI, it would appear that our commitment and vigilance is paying off.

Project of the Year under £500,000 - Jersey Gas for St Saviour’s Road

Jersey Gas

St. Saviour’s Road Medium Pressure Pipe Replacement Project.

Brief description of project

The replacement and upgrading of approximately 1100 metres of cast iron mains with large diameter medium pressure gas pipelines along St Helier’s eastern ring road. The project involved major civil engineering works, which required the complete closure of this major road for a projected period of eleven weeks.
The successful completion of this project was due entirely to teamwork and the standards and performance criteria established at the planning stages and implemented as the project progressed. All the parties involved worked together to overcome challenges and find fast and effective solutions. This project has undoubtedly created a benchmark for major roadworks and demonstrated that win-win situations are achievable through teamwork, commitment, communication and good engineering practice.
